Trend Spotlight: Mimosa

Mimosa. The word conjures up lazy Saturday mornings laughing with friends, warm sunny days sinking into cozy cushions with a book and a tall glass of sparkly beverage and the most unforgettable indulgence of the best Sunday brunch of your life.

As a design trend, we’re completely on board with mimosa. This year, the yellows are less bright citrus and more of the rich golden afternoon sunlight.

Think warm. Think rich. The mimosa trend is the most luxurious, sumptuous golden yellow you’ll find.

Colors

Hello, yellow brick road. The cornerstone color of the mimosa trend is, naturally, a deep goldenrod or even a rich mustard. Use the yellow in a statement piece or as a pop of color throughout a neutral palette.

Grey goose. Soft greys are the perfect neutral complement to radiant bursts of a deep yellow.

Keep your taupe on. Taupe works as a base color for so many fabulous design trends and mimosa is no different. Underline your lavish yellows with a steady taupe to openly declare your fashion prowess.

Trend spotlight MimosaTextures

This trend is geared toward warm invitation. It’s a complex hue that radiates confidence.  Use bold, even knotty, textures drenched in a luxurious yellow for a deeper warmth. On the flip side, the mimosa trend also takes advantage of smooth, opulent fabrics with vibrant color.

Inspiration

How does it make you feel? Optimism and hope are the underpinnings of the mimosa design trend. Designers who focus on mimosa are intent on creating an atmosphere of cheerful optimism, new ideas and even advanced intellect. This trend is aimed toward giving homes a creative, expressive look for homeowners who openly exude confidence.

Mimosa as a trend is demonstrative and creative. Mimosa extends a warm and imaginative call to all who enter a home. It’s a cozy trend inviting friendship, laughter and shared days of wonder.
