Furniture Market Trends: Top 5 Takeaways from High Point Fall Furniture Market 2017
Fall is in the air, and we are still geared up after our time scouring High Point Market for this season’s trends! Here are our top five, directly from market and ready for use in your own home
Blush is the new neutral.
From the runway to High Point Market, desert pastels are the new on-trend neutral. Think dusty lilac, soft blush and smokey blue tones. While the grey craze of the past few years isn’t going away, we are seeing a shift from dark, rich tones of gray to a lighter and softer look. This trend goes across your interior space from lilac sofas to blush interior walls and light gray interior doors.
Don’t mistake this for an all-out move to neutrals though. Accents with pops of color continue to be on-trend. Think bold citrus yellows, retro greens with blue undertones and brown-based reds.
Texture is gaining on pattern.
Casual velvets haven’t let go of their appeal. This textural style works on everything from this contemporary Schillig sectional to more traditional pieces. Our Antonio fabric offers the on-trend look of velvet with the stain and moisture resistance of LiveSmart.
While patterned fabrics have ruled the trends of the past several years, variation in textured accents is becoming just as important as pattern mixing. We saw spaces boasting different textures throughout the room, from mixing in bamboo accent pieces to textured wall hangings to varying fabrics on upholstered furniture and pillows.
It’s still a mod, mod world.
Clean-lines and a midcentury modern influence continued to rule market. In addition to pieces with iconic tapered or hairpin legs, we saw a growing interest in contemporary style frames this year.
One of our favorite looks played off the huge influence of farmhouse style (thank you, Joanna Gaines). The hybrid “midcentury farmhouse” look offers sleek minimalism with a comfortable and lived-in vibe. Which leads us to the next trend…
Comfortable and casual reigns.
Even traditional style is becoming more relaxed. Younger consumers want their home furnishings to offer a style that can be lived in every day. The casual look is no longer relegated to the family room, but has made an appearance in formally formal rooms. We loved this casual, farmhouse vibe for the dining room at market.
What better way to ensure that your rooms looked lived-in than to actually live in them? Whether it’s your dining room chairs or living room sofa, our LiveSmart fabric ensures that your look stays spotless.
Accents make the room.
From poufs to rugs to throw pillows, market was all about the details. These can be an easy and inexpensive way to bring the patterns, styles and colors of the season into your home.
What was your favorite fall trend? We love that LiveSmart fabrics allow you to keep your home spotless, because stains aren’t on trend in any season!
